  • Hi Jules... are you able to edit your action steps to eliminate the redundancy?
  • Buying Real Estate - 02/02/2007
If you were to focus on buying business property... or buying residential homes with an emphasis on becoming a real estate agent (and include a wider variety of links), I think you could provide some valuable information & tips for small business owners.
  • I'm glad your guide mentions the important aspect of secure online transactions. In fact, I'm wondering if you would consider expanding on that element with a new guide about Ecommerce Security?
  • If you have a specialty food item, you can consider selling your product to retailers at one of the Fancy Food Shows from the NASFT.
  • I was wondering if these tips would apply to starting a landscaping business as well?
  • Firing a Customer - 11/17/2006
Interesting guide Judy... have you ever regretted firing a customer?
  • I agree that mutual funds are a wise way to invest extra cash. But if you simply need to hold some money temporarily for taxes or future expenses, then you may also consider a certificate of deposit. If you need to keep cash liquid, then a money market account can earn higher interest than traditional checking or savings accounts.
  • Scott offers some good advice for making a good impression during a networking meeting. However, you will greatly benefit by following-up a few days later. Often times, a short email is extremely helpful if you mention a few points discussed or just tell them that you enjoyed your conversation.
  • Thanks for submitting such a thoughtful guide, Russ. Finding work-life balance for fatherpreneurs and motherpreneurs is such a challenge... but it's also vitally important to maintain a proper perspective and remember priorities.
  • Bank of America allows you to pay federal, state, and local taxes online as well as quarterly, payroll, and sales taxes. I like the fact that you can schedule payments and get immediate confirmation via email. All of this information can be found on their website by browsing in the "Tax Services" section at: http://www.bankofamerica.com/small_business/
  • A poorly organized website is such a frustrating experience, it's worth the extra time and effort to create clear navigation. Thanks for the useful advice, Lisa.
  • Resume Search - 10/07/2006
One quote from this guide to highlight... "You may want your new sales rep to be a real go-getter. But don't search for the term 'go-getter'; odds are most go-getters don't use those words on their resume. "
  • It's a nice idea to choose a company that provides an all-inclusive package for domain registration, web hosting, and web design. Much easier to manage one account rather than two or three separate vendors. Also, some features to consider while shopping are blogs, surveys, FAQs, and chat capability. In the future, those services should become as important as email, ecommerce, spam filtering, and virus protection. Look for a web-hosting company that makes it easy to incorporate those community elements.
