My Comments

  • Donna, Thanks for sharing this most interesting link. It's wonderful to know that a man of Porter's business acumen would want to use his expertise to help create a positive business experience for all. Regards, Jeanne
  • Donna & Anita, Thanks so much for your comments! Useful gifts are certainly a wonderful idea and one I think most employees and business associates greatly appreciate! Thanks again for sharing your thoughts! Jeanne
  • Eve, It's so true that Douglas McGregor had real insight into the motivations of the average worker, as well as the characteristics that help managers lead more effectively. He understood that a management model which fosters employee engagement, empowerment, and "ownership" of company concerns, objectives, and mission are almost magical motivators to improved performance. Thanks so much for your comment! Jeanne
  • Hi, Akwasi! I agree. Michael Porter has always demonstrated great insight and real skill in analyzing work processes, breaking them down into their basic components and making them easier to understand and use effectively. Thanks for your comment! Jeanne
  • Thanks so much for your comment, Donna! Deming certainly did make a great contribution to management theory--as well as to the business community--through his insightful quality management principles. Jeanne
  • Paul and Susan, Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! I'm a great believer that a little kindness and generosity make a real difference with employees and can go a long way in fostering employee loyalty. After all, the employees who keep our operations running smoothly day after day definitely deserve our gratitude. Regards, Jeanne
  • Thanks, Akwasi! Glad you've found the information useful! Regards, Jeanne
  • Susan, Several of the resources I've provided in this guide have defined self-directed work teams. Perhaps their definitions weren't as comprehensive as you would have liked, but I suspect that the topic would be covered in greater depth in their instructional materials or by their consulting services. The main purpose of a Work.com guide is to point the reader to resources which answer questions and provide tools to help with a particular topic. Unfortunately, there simply isn't enough space to provide in-depth information about the topic itself within the guide. That's the function of the links provided in each action step. (I do apologize that a few of the pertinent videos seem to have been discontinued since the guide was written.) Thanks so much for your comment! Regards, Jeanne
  • Thanks so much, Anita! Thanks, too, for adding a few other great tips on writing business thank you letters that get noticed! Jeanne
